What Would John Muir Do?

"When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world."

~John Muir

John Muir.  One of the most influential environmentalists in America, if not the world.  He devoted his life to preserving nature across the globe.  As we face this crisis of the elephants, it may be helpful to go back and discover solutions from the past.  History may be able to teach us how to get out of this mess we're in, regarding poaching, smuggling, and ivory consumption.  Where I live in Northern California, we can find inspiration from John Muir.  While he was born in Scotland, John Muir immigrated to America in 1849 with his family.  He first traveled from San Francisco to Yosemite in 1868, and fell in love with the natural world there.  He fought for the preservation of Yosemite and formed the Sierra Club.  Let's ask ourselves:  if John Muir were alive today, would he stand by and watch this magnificent species die out because of greed?

My sister, Honor, was born at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, California!

Go make a difference!
