Here is the fourth video of World Wildlife Fund's wildlife crime video series. This video is about the illegal trade of rhino horn for medicinal purposes.
The rhino is another of our endangered, and amazing African creatures being poached for no other reason but human greed. Some people think that rhino horn can cure cancer, fever, rheumatism, gout, snakebites, hallucinations, typhoid, headaches, carbuncles, vomiting, food poisoning, and “devil possession." (credit: PBS) However, scientists have proven that rhino horn does not cure anything. Rhino horn is made of the same things that your fingernails, or hairs are made of.
Many countries believe that rhino horn has "magical" powers to cure disease, detect poisoned liquids, and even purify water. Rhino horn is now worth more than gold.
